SEARED AHÍ TUNA SALAD w/ SESAME GINGER DRESSING😍
Not sure if it’s 5000 degrees in your guys’ apartment today too but I will actually punch anyone in my house who dares to turn on the oven. The good news is, you only need one burner on for 3 minutes in this recipe and then you’re done! A delicious dinner on the table in less than 10 minutes? YEP I can get down with that. You’re gonna wanna make this ASAP!
Serves 2.
Ingredients:
For the Seared Ahi:
-
2 fresh ahi tuna filets
-
¼ cup Trader Joe’s everything but the bagel seasoning (or sesame seeds)
-
2 tsps garlic powder
-
Salt and Pepper to taste
-
1 tbsp avocado or high smoke point oil
-
For the Ginger Sesame Salad:
-
2 cups mixed greens
-
Cherry tomatoes, cucumber, avocado, or other optional toppings
-
2 tsps sesame oil
-
1 tbsp avocado or similar neutral oil
-
1 tbsp soy sauce (or coconut aminos for Whole 30)
-
1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
-
1 tsp grated ginger or ginger paste
-
1 tsp minced garlic
-
Juice from 1 lime
-
Salt to taste
Directions:
For the Seared Ahi Tuna Salad with Ginger Sesame Dressing:
-
Mix together the everything but the bagel seasoning, garlic powder, and pinch of salt on a plate.
-
Add the tuna filets and press into the seasoning until well coated on all sides.
-
Heat a cast iron (my absolute favorite kitchen item – linked here) on high heat until hot, then drizzle in some avocado oil.
-
Add the tuna filets and sear for 1-2 minutes per side until they develop a nice crust on the outside but are still nice and pink on the inside.
-
Add sesame oil, avocado oil, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, ginger, garlic, lime juice and a small pinch of salt to a jar with a lid and shake until well emulsified. You can also use a whisk.
-
Spoon the dressing over the lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers and toss. You may not need all the dressing, so pour a little bit at a time.
-
Top with the tuna and enjoy!
