TIO CARLOS’ MARGARITAS!
I have a feeling I’ll be making quite a few of these OG Margaritas tonight.. likely extra heavy on the tequila. This is a lightened up version of my Tio Carlos’ Margaritas, and I swear it’s the only margarita recipe you will ever need. It’s so good, I’m including a warning label because you WILL want to drink quite a few of these…you do you 😉
Ingredients:
For the Skinny Margaritas (Serves 1):
-
2 oz fresh lime juice
-
1 oz fresh orange juice
-
2-3 oz 100% agave tequila like Casamigos or Milagro
-
1 oz Grand Marnier or other orange liqueur
-
1-2 tbsps agave or simple syrup (you can use honey too, just be sure to shake really well before adding the ice to disperse)
-
Salt or tajin for the rim
-
Extra lime wedges
For the Skinny Margaritas (Serves 4):
-
1 cup fresh lime juice (about 6-7 limes depending on how juicy they are)
-
1/2 cup fresh orange juice (about 1 large orange)
-
1 cup 100% agave tequila (I like Milagro or Casamigos) – this comes out to a double shot per serving, feel free to lessen it if you don’t want them as strong
-
1/4 – ½ cup agave or simple syrup (you can use honey too, just be sure to shake really well before adding the ice to disperse)
-
½ cup of Grand Marnier (or similar Orange Liqueur like Pierre Ferrand)
-
Salt or tajin for the rim
-
Extra lime wedges for serving
-
Ice
Directions:
For the Skinny Margaritas:
-
Add the honey, lime juice, orange juice, tequila, and Grand Marnier to a cocktail shaker or lidded jar and shake well. If you are making the large batch, blend or mix really well in a large pitcher.
-
Add in the ice and shake the cocktail shaker until your hand is very cold.
-
Pour some salt or tajin on a plate and rim the edge of each glass with a lime wedge.
-
Dip the glass in the salt and fill with ice.
-
Pour margarita into each glass and serve with a lime wedge and enjoy!
